Kyle Madden and James Riske, both from Anchorage, rolled their way to the first USBC Award Scores of the 2010-11 winter bowling season. Madden, bowling in the Center Construction League at Center Bowl on Wednesday, September 15, fired the season's first perfect game with 12 consecutive strikes in his second game of the evening. Throwing an Ebonite Magic Touch, Kyle finished with a fine 723 series, posting a 195 in his first game and closing the series with a 228. This 300 marked Kyle's second sanctioned perfect game.
Competing in the What The "L" League at Jewel Lake Bowl on Friday, October 1, James Riske strung together games of 269, 278, and 255 for a spectacular 802 series, becoming the first bowler this season to achieve the 800 series plateau. Using a Brunswick C System 3.5 and playing a line few others on the pair were playing, only minor adjustments were required throughout the evening. Although he knew what score he needed to reach 800 (253 or higher), James stated he wasn't really that nervous. When asked about who (besides himself) has contributed to the improvement of his game to achieve such scores, Riske added, "There's a lot of people that I could give credit to but the majority goes to all the bowlers that I've bowled tournaments against that have elevated my game to that next level."
The 802 was James's 8th series of 800 or better. He also has 18 300 games on his resume.
P.S. Joey Krison of Anchorage also posted an 802 series bowling in the Jewel Lake Tuesday Night Men's League on October 5, with games of 247, 298, and 257. And Darren Lopez of Anchorage rolled this season's second 300 game in the Center Construction League on October 6. Nice bowling guys!
