The Track 715T

October 21, 2010

First off, Track is doing something that no other ball company is doing right now. They have eliminated the names that some of the other ball companies are still trying to use to sell their equipment. Instead, Track is using what the ball is meant for in the name with their new numbering system.

The first number of the ball name represents the performance line of the ball.  The second two numbers is the core strength. The letter following the numbers represents the strength of the cover stock on the ball.  In the 930T, for example, 9 is the performance level, 30 indicates a 0.030 core differential, and the T stands for traction.  So with that being said the 930T is a strong ball meant to roll early and in heavy oil.

Ball #1

Ball#1. The Track 715T is in the second strongest line from track. Out of the box, it has a dull cover and rolls heavy in the mid-lane. Since it is a 7 series ball, it gets down the lane a lot easier than the 9 series and is meant for medium to heavy oils. The first ball I drilled was a 3-inch pin and I drilled it with the pin just above and slightly to the right of the ring finger. This layout gets the ball through the heads nicely with good length before it goes into a strong heavy roll. Then it will flip and drive through the pins with power.

Ball #2

Ball #2 is also a 715t but on this one I dropped the pin down below the fingers for more of a control type layout. This layout for me takes the wet/dry lane condition out of the equation - much like a Rico style layout does for other people. I have a high track, so if I take the pin to far inside the grip the ball will roll over the finger holes. I throw this ball when the oil has moved down the lane and has been pushed to the right. What I see with this ball is a nice controlled roll in the mid-lane and no overreaction off the dry. The 715T with this layout works well on medium to wet lanes.
